UNITE AGAINST HATE HAS GOT THE BLUES

Belfast Blues launch 10The newly crowned Miss Northern Ireland, Lori Moore, officially launched the second annual Belfast City Blues Festival at the John Hewitt Bar in Belfast. The festival will promote the Unite against Hate campaign, a campaign close to Lori’s heart.

Lori, said: “I am delighted to not only launch the festival, which celebrates so many legendary musicians from around the world in my home town, but I am thrilled that the festival will be increasing awareness of the Unite against Hate campaign.  It’s encouraging that Belfast and indeed Northern Ireland is becoming more open minded.  We are embracing all types of diversity and campaigns such as Unite against Hate reinforce the message to challenge prejudice and hate crime that attracts so many negative headlines in Northern Ireland.  We all need to unite against it.  I am honoured to be the newest ambassador of this campaign and I urge everyone to show their support.”

Seamie O’Neill, organiser and founder of the Belfast City Blues Festival said: “The Festival incorporates musicians from all around the world; different classes, different cultures, religions and races and music knows no boundaries. A lot of musicians have recently endorsed the Unite against Hate campaign, including our own Snow Patrol and local singer Peter Corry, who recorded the campaign anthem ‘Man in the Mirror,’ which was produced by internationally acclaimed music producer and DJ Micky Modelle. I’m delighted that this festival we are able to spread the word too.”
