The third Unite against Hate convention takes place in Belfast City Hall on Wednesday 6 October 2010.
The annual event, which is for invited guests only, will focus on the root causes of hate crime and reinforce the message that it will not be tolerated by society. Delegates include those working on hate crime issues, as well as statutory and voluntary groups.
Those attending will hear about council initiatives to tackle hate crime, as well as the experiences of invited guest speakers from Lancaster University, the Criminal Justice Inspectorate and Newcastle City Council. Last year’s convention also included communication and intervention workshops, as well as a commitment to begin the process of developing a hate crime strategy for Belfast.
This project is funded by the European Union Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (2007-2013), managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
