Belfast’s Falls Road played host to one of the biggest and most colourful carnival parades in Ireland on Sunday, during the official launch of the Féile an Phobail.
The 23rd Féile, which runs during the first week of August, has a schedule packed full of multi-cultural events. Local people joined ethnic minority and community groups to take part in the parade, which is themed Kids against Cuts – Celebrating the Laughter of Our Children. The Féile was launched in 1988 by a west Belfast group to display the culture, heritage and community in their part of the city. Well-known acts, including The Stranglers and comedian Des Bishop, will join local talents showcasing their acts in the week-long event.
