Celebrating culture and creativity, the Mela, meaning ‘to meet’, will display the sights, smells and sounds of ethnic origins, showcasing music, dance, arts and food from over 30 nations across the globe. Crowds are in for a variety of treats as the event is jam packed with a show stopping schedule, all taking place in the very beautiful Botanic Gardens on 29th August 2010
The 2010 event promises to be an even larger cultural exploration in the magnificent settings of Botanic Gardens with many new features including ‘Taste the World’ with a cookery theatre by award-winning Indian chef ‘Manju Mali’; ‘Culture Trip’, a specially designed cultural journey for children and ‘Mela Circus’ featuring Northern Ireland’s first ever ethnic-themed circus.
Headlining the event is star of Eastenders, East is East, Bend it Like Beckham and Bombay Dreams, Preeya Kalidas, who is now launching her solo pop career!
